Hi everyone and a warm welcome to my new follower Megan. I hope you're all having a great week.
The wonderful sponsor for this challenge is:-
Prize - Choice of 3 single digis
This is my first Christmas card of the year and my first ever shaker card. Here I'm using Carl the Snowman
All shook up.......
Card Ingredients
6" x 6" card blank- Craftwork Cards.
Stamps- Robyn's Fetish Carl the Snowman digi. Card-io Christmas Scenery 3 and Winter Woods.
Sentiment- Clearly Besotted Sweet Little Sentiments.
Die- Tattered Lace Essentials Squares.
Inks- Memento Tuxedo Black. VersaColor Evergreen, Atlantic and Boysenberry.
Pens- Copic Ciao and Sketch.
Acetate- Grafton Crafts.
Other Stuff- Glossy accents ( on snowman's hearts), DecoArt Glamour Dust in crystal, stars from stash, Sakura Gelly Roll pen in white and Stampendous Fun Flock in white ( on the pom, poms at end of snowman's scarf)
The photos don't show my inking of the sky and frame very well but it is there, I promise. My first attempt at making it a shaker card ended up with me covered in glitter as I'd decided to add glitter in with the stars but when I shook it the glitter decided to stick itself, by static I think, to the acetate making the children on the sledge look like they were out in a blizzard! Also there must have been a very small gap in my foam letting the glitter out all over my clothes :D. As I hadn't any more stars I sat for over an hour picking them out of the glitter with a pair of tweezers :( So this card was attempt number two, not perfect but I'm happy enough with it.
Well that's all from me today. Why not get ahead with your Christmas cards and enter the challenge at Crafting by Designs which runs from today 15th June until 21st June.
Sending you all a big hug,
Debra x
This is really lovely Debra, the scene "through the window" is fantastic. I feel your pain regarding the glitter incident though, I added glitter once and, despite checking for gaps, had the egg timer effect from a corner!! xx
ReplyDeleteDelightful shaker card Debra, just adore this and turned out fabulous. My first shaker card all the things went everywhere so that was a lesson learnt...now the background on my card was designed in Craft Artist Two...xxxx {aNNie}
ReplyDeleteLove your great card, what a really cheery Snowman and great background scene.
ReplyDeleteOooo!!! I know the feeling re:- the glitter. The blooming stuff gets "everywhere"!!!

Awwwww... Love, love this shaker card!!! You have made a fabulous work, and it's really your first (or second, well...) attempt??? Wow!! You are very talented! Wonderful!! It looks so sweet, cute and fun!! Great white design, superlovely snowman, and the snow line of the hills that come out from the window looks so well!! The image on the scenery, with the children on the sledge and the snowy trees is just adorable!
ReplyDeleteI think that less stars is better... :D because they shake very well all around! But you have made me smile with the story of the stars fished out of the glitter! :D
Love the details of the Glossy accents on the button hearts and the Fun Flocks! Surely this card will make happy the lucky recipient!

Hi Debra, such a cute snowman and fabulous shaker card, I made one last year, unfortunately static put me off doing again, thank you for the inspiration... Megan
ReplyDeleteLol at the glitter incident... oops! Fab card, such a fun shaker design and very cute too :o) Hugs, Lisa x

ReplyDeleteCheers

The snowman is a cutie. Those shiny little star looks awesome
ReplyDeleteThis looks fantastic Debra. I find that glitter sticks to the acetate too but to stop the leaking out I'll add a layer of glue before putting the foam layer down to give it a goo tight seal

Just a darling shaker card design Debra.

Hi Debra, a stunning Christmas shaker card. I love the snowy scene you have created, the stars work perfectly for the shaker elements and your snowman is adorable. I have found that wiping the acetate and card in the shaker with an anti-static bag helps stop the static and prevents the glitter from clinging to the acetate. Sally.x.
ReplyDeleteHi Debra, I use the Heat Resistant Acetate from Crafter's Companion. It is not as thick as some acetate's but seems to work well with anti-static bags, glitters and embossing powders. Hope that helps. Sally.x.
ReplyDeleteHaha reading the comments it appears we've all had a fail with our attempts at shaker cards! I wipe over the acetate with an antistatic bag as Sally said and I use foam tape instead of pads to avoid gaps. I think it's fabulous though, I love the scene you've created and the stars are so cute.
ReplyDeleteI've seen quite a few Christmas cards on my rounds tonight, how very organised!!
Have a lovely weekend
